The Nameless

They have no name, no identity, they are no one. They are the worst scum of the galaxy regrouped under the same banner, fighting against their will, for the empire and for their own lives.

The division 0 is a unique detachement of the empire. It's corps is composed mainly of deserters, war criminals, bandits, killers and war prisonneers. Those people, who the empire wants to see suffer, are sentenced to fight in this division until death. The only way to avoid execution is to fight, and maybe, just maybe survive to see another day. They have nothing to loose, which makes them fearless.  The officer structure is minimal and composed of courtmartialed officers who have no other way to regain trust from the empire. These officers are in charge of the operations and make sure the soldiers strictly follows orders. Only a few of the division's high commanders are real officers. They act as a bridge between the empire and the corp. 

The unit is mostly considered as cannon fodder, doing the work no one else would do. They execute the missions considered too risky and dangerous for the stormtrooper corps. They also chase other renegades or deserters, sometimes to make them prisonners, sometimes to eliminate them. They mostly operate in small isolated squads to prevent a large group of armed troopers from starting a rebellion. Every single element of their lives is being monitored and every little deviation is being severly punished, even sometimes by death. The soldiers never rest, going from a battle to another. The division 0 is considered by many to be a punishement worse than death. 

Because of the nature of division 0, the empire deletes every soldier's formal name from any databank, making them non existant. Because of that, they have absolutely no rights and are forced to abandon all trace of individuality and personnality They are forced to forget their name and instead respond to a number, hence the nickname ''The Nameless'' given by the imperials. Apart from this name, nothing is said in the imperial ranks about this division. The mention of the division only is being considered as an offense. It acts as a warning to any stormtrooper if they become too independant or tend to disobey orders too often.

Division 0 will have an important role to play in Viken's future after order 66, and not in the way you'd excpect. More about that soon
