Gather up folks, it's story time! I'm picking up right where I left in my piece ''Why should I trust you''.
-I have no idea of what happened with my troops. But please Eethar, you have to trust me. I couldn't hurt you. Aren't jedi capable of feeling other's emotions? I woulnd't be able to kill you, even if I tried. And I know you know that. Please, just turn your lightsaber off and let's find together what's going on.
Eethar hesitated. She looked desperately at Viken, like she tried to find answers deep down in the Commander's mind. As the two looked at each other, Viken sensed that something was about to happen. He felt like there was only one of the two that would make it out alive. At this moment, Viken had made peace with himself. ''I was born to defend my general. Take my life, but keep on fighting'' he tought. The rain suddenly stopped, as if Taris's turbulent sky had been listening to Viken's toughts. The jedi firmly raised his saber. Viken closed his eyes. He was ready for his death.
But Eethar didn't strike him down. Instead, she dropped her lighsaber on the ground. The bright yellow light of the blade quickly faded as it shut off. Eethar dropped to his knees and broke into tears.
-What the hell is going on?! I wasn't prepared for this. I don't know who I should trust.
Viken silently stood up and walked towards her. He took her in his arms and pressed her head against his chest. As the two hold each others, the moon slowly appeared between the clouds and threw a mild blue light on the destroyed buildings. They both stood here silently before getting up. Viken put his hand on Eethar's shoulder and smiled to her.
-I have no idea of what is happening, but I swear we won't be beaten this easily. We'll get back to Coruscant and we will sort things out. Believe me, Eethar, as long as I'm alive, I won't let anyone hurt you.
Before Eethar could respond, Viken heard a familiar voice coming from behind them. It was Legio's crisp and cold voice.
-There they are! Fire at will!!
Before they could react, Legio fired with his blaster. The bold hit Eethar right trough her chest. Viken was frozen in terror as his general fell into his hands. For the first time in his life, tears started running trough Viken's face. He didn't say a word. Eethar agrily looked at Viken, still silent. She whispered, with all the energy left in her.
Why... This single word resonated in Viken's head as he slowly drop off Eethar's body. He then turned back towards captain Legio. He screamed at him.
-Why?! Why would you do this?! She was our general! She saved our lives so many times. What did she do to deserve this?!
Legio didn't move. He raised his blaster towards his commander.
-The chancellor was clear. The Jedi order tried to overthrow the government and is declared ennemy of the empire. And you, Viken, are accused of conspiracy against the chancellor. You helped an ennemy of the empire and now you shall face the consequences.
-So be it. Do your buisness, Legio. Kill me. What I hold closest to my heart has turned against me. I have nothing else to lose.
Even tough he was wearing his helmet, Viken could sense Legio's vicious smile.
-Oh I'm afraid you won't be granted this reward, Viken.
